Red Dead Online update adds new Gun Rush mode

A new mode called Gun Rush was released today in Red Dead Online.

Gun Rush is a new 32-player mode in Red Dead Online, tasked with collecting weapons and ammo while the game area shrinks.

It can be played in Free-for-all and Team variants, and the last player left standing wins.

Xbox One users now have access to the Red Chestnut Arabian horse, Alligator Skin Ranch Cutter Saddle and High Roller Double-Action Revolver in the beta.

More updates are in the pipeline for the Red Dead Online beta, including Races and Showdown modes, as well as new clothing and emotes.

You can expect more features, enhancements and stability fixes to be rolled out throughout the beta.

According to Rockstar, additional changes based on player feedback are planned.

  • Daily Challenges: Face new challenges every day, covering every aspect of the game, from rough shooting to dodging the law.
  • Law and Reward Improvements: Some changes are coming to the way the law and reward systems work in Red Dead Online to reduce incentives for griefing. Soon, players will receive rewards for committing crimes and will be encouraged to pay them back in a set amount of time. If you delay too long, bounty hunters from each state will follow the player, forcing them to pay up or run away.
  • Changes to Parsley: We are making it easier to trigger the parsley system so you can avoid aggressive players faster. Also, it will be easier to trigger Feud, Posse Feud, and Leader Feud to face off against attacking players in organized competition.
  • Proximity-based player blips: Player location notifications will soon only appear at short distances, reducing the range in which you are visible to others, reducing the likelihood of being targeted by another player over a large area. In the future, we're also going to introduce the ability to identify players who despawn and kill en masse with a progressively darker blip that will become more visible and be at a greater range, allowing everyone in the session to identify potentially dangerous opponents at a glance and from a safe distance.

Even more this year

  • All-new missions to advance your story in the Land of Opportunity - featuring familiar characters like Horley and Jessica LeClerk, as well as several new ones.
  • A variety of dynamic events around the world
  • Plenty of new competitive modes, including new Showdown and Race modes
  • New weapons and clothing
  • A lot more that we can't tell you about yet

Rockstar has announced that Red Dead Online will remain in beta for a few more months. If you're just getting into the game, here are some tips and tricks for missions, multiplayer modes and general open-world survival.
