WoW: Because of "Sexy Purge" dwarfs say only two jokes

In order to rid the MMORPG WoW of inappropriate content, the developers at Blizzard had recently devoted themselves to adjusting and often simply removing sexual innuendo. The result soured some players in patch 9.1.5. For example, women's paintings became fruit plate images, but also some jokes had to go into early retirement

. The response to this was mixed - some jokes players found really inappropriate, but others felt were not a problem for anyone. Much worse is the fact that many of the removed jokes and flirty sayings from player characters have not been given replacements. This is especially noticeable with female dwarves.

Dwarfs without humor after Sexy Purge

Because the ladies of the dwarf race had to part with four jokes in WoW (buy now ) Patch 9.1.5, leaving them with only two (2!). So if you want to utter a funny line with a dwarf lady, you have a 50 percent chance of uttering one of the following phrases:

• "I like my beer like my men - dark and strong."
• "I don't like being underground. It's like being in the grave ..."

"No, they're not real, but I'm glad you noticed them," and even "It's like my dad used to say, 'Shut up and get out of here.'"

Not only dwarf women are humorless now

In fact, it's not just female dwarves who have fewer jokes now. Male trolls now also only have two sayings in store that are anything but funny:

• "New troll here!"
• "Food's ready, dig in!"

While the first phrase is just a reference to Warcraft 2 (troll axe-throwing units had always said that), it's also not entirely clear what the joke is supposed to be about the second. Possibly the original English "Cookin's done! Stew here!" is a cannibalism reference, because Stew can also sound like the name Stu. Shrunken head jokes or extremities that grow back longer after you cut them off are in any case no longer in the trolls' joke arsenal.
