Update from December 6, 2020:
The days are getting shorter, the evenings longer - not least due to the current releases around WoW Shadowlands and WoW Classic (Naxxramas) we are currently spending more time in the wonderful World of Azeroth. But also outside the virtual worlds something is happening - because Benjamin "Lugia" V. recently published the book volume of the upcoming short story collection "Folk & Fairy Tales of Azeroth" via Twitter.
The book volume includes legendary creatures of Azeroth as well as a brave paladin quoting one of his book volumes. Christmas-skinned, however, the short stories will not go on sale until April 21, 2021.
Original post dated September 3, 2020:
Those who have already read through the latest WoW novel "Rise of the Shadows" and internalized the prequel to the upcoming Shadowlands expansion will soon get reading supplies: as Wowhead reports, Blizzard is namely planning to publish a new anthology called "Folk & Fairy Tales of Azeroth", which will contain a total of twelve short stories by various authors.
These short stories do not revolve around central characters of the Azerothian present, but rather around folkloric and fairy tales represented throughout Azeroth. Blizzard writes in an official Bluepost (translation by us):
"Monsters, mystery, and magic abound
inthis stunning, illustrated collection of original tales from the World of Warcraft universe (buy now €14.99 ), told by an all-star cast of award-winning, bestselling authors
.The power of the stories can be felt in every corner of Azeroth and is known everywhere. From the windswept fields of the Eastern Kingdoms to the bustling city of Gadgetzan, shared stories of people accomplishing incredible feats bridge existing differences. Lessons learned from cautionary tales have tempered many brave heroes and brought them home safely, while tales of adventure have inspired the world's greatest players to great deeds. Now you can take off your own armor and cozy up while listening to wondrous tales of adventure and danger in the folk and fairy tales of Azeroth.
Bursting with beautiful illustrations, this anthology of two inspiring stories by outstanding fantasy authors, including Garth Nix, Catherynne M. Valente, Kami Garcia, and more, brings new voices, new meaning, and new wonder to the world of Warcraft. "
The full author roster includes the following: Garth Nix, Catherynne M. Valente, Christie Golden, Kami Garcia, Madeleine Roux, L.L. McKinney, Tamsyn Muir, E. C. Myers, Molly Knox Ostertag, and Alyssa Wong. The anthology is scheduled for release in English on April 14, 2021 - whether there will be a German edition is as yet unknown.
