We already reported that Blizzard has been looking for reinforcements for the internal WoW Classic team for quite some time. This could be an indication that the developers are working on the implementation of classic servers of The Burning Crusade - the remaining content phases of Classic WoW will certainly not require such a large team.
Thisnow also fits that an experienced MMORPG developer has joined the Classic team, who is already familiar with this type of legacy content
.
On her LinkedIn page, longtime Everquest producer Holly Longdale (she worked on Everquest, Everquest 2, as well as the respective "Classic conversions") recently reported the move; about a month ago, she had left Darkpaw Games (part of Daybreak Games), the studio that currently handles the Everquest franchise (via Gamespace). Longdale states that she is now to work at Blizzard focused on WoW (buy now 14,99 € ) Classic ... although we also believe here that the "Classic" is currently used at Blizzard (as in the public job postings) only as a generic term, which also includes "Classic TBC".
Of the various other hints at the implementation of classic TBC servers (the huge success of Classic, some insider rumors, the Hearthstone expansion Ruins of Outland), the biggest is certainly the survey Blizzard launched last month, in which the developers wanted to know how the community would prefer to start a new "The Burning Crusade" adventure.
What do you think, when will the announcement of WoW: The Burning Crusade Classic come? Will the developers wait until BlizzCon 2020? Tell us your thoughts in the comments!
