WoW Classic: Nefarian down in just under 20 minutes - Progress is the new No. 1

Update from May 22nd:
With every new ID in WoW Classic, there are also new speed-run records for the unlucky wielder's hoard. The new #1 goes by the name of Progress, is based on the EU server Firemaw and was able to defeat Nefarian after only 20 minutes and 30 seconds. To celebrate the record, the guild has released a short, but well-directed video that you should check out:

Unfortunately, the Classic Warcraftlogs website is down for maintenance right now, but according to Icy Veins, the raid is said to have consisted of 21 warriors, 6 priests, 5 rogues, 3 paladins, 2 hunters, and one each of warlock, mage, and druid. Congratulations!

May 07 update:
29 minutes and 14 seconds for the bad luck swing hoard? HA! THAT'S a lot faster! Almost seven minutes faster, to be exact. You read that right: The well-known Alliance guild APES from the European server Gehennas, which also managed to secure the World First Kill of Ragnaros in the Molten Core of WoW Classic back in the day, recently laid Nefarian after 22 minutes and 39 seconds - a new record!

Of course, the raid composition for the blue monkeys was also very melee-heavy. The raid consisted of seven rogues, 17 (!) warriors, three mages, one warlock, two hunters, one druid, five priests, and four paladins. Due to the extremely short fights, the equipment (many players use rank 14 weapons), the numerous consumables and world buffs as well as the special setup, the damage numbers are naturally impressively high. In Vaelastrasz, 23 players did 1,000 damage per second or more. 13 melee fighters even managed over 2,000 damage per second. The fight was over after 19 (!) seconds

,

but the other boss fights were also very short: Firewing fell after about 28 seconds, and here too most damage experts scored over 1,000 damage per

second.

Original news from March 12:
Since the difficulty of the raid challenges of WoW (buy now 14,99 € ) Classic is rather low, many guilds are looking for alternative challenges. Speed runs, i.e. the attempt to finish the respective raid instance in the shortest possible time, are particularly popular. Since February

, the

record

for

Molten Core

has

been held by the EU guild Dreamstate, which was able to send Ragnaros back into the lava after just over 22 minutes.

Sooner or later, there will surely be a new record holder for MC. After all, a lot of good loot has come into the game with Phase 3. However, speed run fans are currently more likely to focus on the Pitchwing Hoard raid, which opened with that very phase. The current record is still quite fresh: On March 9th, the French guild Tribe from the PvP server Sulfuron managed to clip Nefarian's wings after 29 minutes and 14 seconds (via Warcraftlogs). Here is the video of the speed run:

The guild, unsurprisingly, went with a melee-heavy lineup of eight rogues and eleven offensive warriors for the record run. Plus four Mages, two Warlocks, two Hunters, three Warrior Tanks, a Druid, as well as four Healing Priests and three Holy Paladins. The former guild killer Vaelastrasz was in the dust after just 25 seconds. No wonder when 20 players crack the 1,000 DpS mark and two Warriors even drive more than 2,000 damage per second. Even with the following bosses, the fun was over after 1 minute and 39 seconds at the latest (Chromaggus).

How quickly and safely do you currently get through BWL? Which boss gave you problems in the first weeks? Does your guild also try a speed run from time to time? Tell us in the comments!
