WoW: Developers release hotfix for motion sickness settings

Do you get nauseous while gaming? Do you experience dizziness? Then you might be suffering from motion sickness. Even though World of Warcraft is one of the more harmless candidates for triggering motion sickness compared to some first-person shooters, certain movements can cause problems for sensitive players in Azeroth.

The WoW developers have therefore adjusted the settings options in the online role-playing game to give players who are affected by motion sickness additional options for mitigating or reducing their discomfort. Two hotfixes are supposed to take care of this, which include the following adjustments in detail:

  • When you have died and are moving through the Shadowlands as a ghost, the visual effect of the anima threads at the edge of the screen fades out.
  • If you are traveling in the Maw under the influence of the Ve'nari Veil or Ve'nari's Sustained Veil effect, the visual effects at the edge of the screen will fade out.

The changes thus reduce effects that can potentially promote the occurrence of motion sickness, but have no relevance for the gameplay. To activate the adjustments, you need to select "Reduce camera movement" or "Keep character centered and reduce camera movement" in the drop-down menu under "Motion sickness" in the Accessibility tab of the WoW (buy now €14.99 )

options menu. The game will then automatically take the additional measures listed above to reduce motion sickness issues.
