WoW: Madseason update - characters back / new problems

Update from September 28:
In the meantime, the Youtuber Madseason has also published an update video in which he tells us the current state of his case:

  • The deleted characters are now back, the downgraded characters have the right level again. Also all achievements mastered since Cataclysm and the gold level seem to fit again.
  • What doesn't fit, however: His characters are now in a guild he was last in before Battle for Azeroth. However, he cannot write in the guild chat, nor can he leave the guild.
  • All cloned characters still exist in duplicate. In other words, the old versions of his characters have not been deleted.

So the trouble is not completely over yet. Let's hope that the bug will be limited to the Khadgar server. Server mergers also happen here from time to time.

Update from September 25:
Not only the Youtuber Madseason recently noticed inconsistencies on his WoW account, but also various other players reported characters that were suddenly downgraded or deleted. According to a post by Blizzard in the official WoW forum, however, this should mainly affect players from the server Khadgar. Here is the state of affairs so far:

  • Blizzard is already working since the first reports with high pressure to get the problem under control. It is now known how the problem arose. Now they are working on reversing the damage.
  • The "original" versions of the characters are still available in the data. Players who are missing characters or have had characters downgraded should notice in the near future that everything is gradually being restored to its original state. However, it is unclear how long this process will take.
  • Various people affected have already confirmed that everything is back to the way it was.

Original news from September 24th:
By now it might have gotten around that I like the usually very humorous videos of the WoW-Youtuber Madseason. In the last few months, the Azeroth veteran has been hanging around in WoW (buy now 14,99 € ) Classic and

has

earned PvP rank 14 (with a video summary).

But as you know,

the

release of WoW: Shadowlands is

just around the corner.

A good opportunity to log back into Battle for Azeroth after a long break and get the retail characters up to speed. Madseason recently did just that for the first time after a long break and made a disturbing discovery - see the video below.

Here's the summary - something strange had happened to his BfA account.

  • Some of his retail characters suddenly aren't there anymore.
  • Other retail characters have had their levels changed. His Vanilla-created rogue Showtime was actually level 120, but now it says level 86, and the equipment also matches the Mists of Pandaria era. In addition, all achievements that he had mastered with his rogue since level 86 are gone.
  • Partly, characters were also cloned. His death knight Badseason was called Bagina a few years ago. Now both variants of the character are available in the character selector, the almost ten-year-old level 81 character Bagina and the level 110 DK Badseason.
  • Characters that were deleted years ago are suddenly back.
  • Some of the characters are still in chat channels that haven't existed for years. Also all the gold earned in the meantime is gone.
  • Madseason rules out a hack of the account, because it uses the authenticator. Also, hackers usually don't restore deleted chars or erase a character's progress of several years.

Have you ever heard of a similar case? Madseason immediately opened a ticket, of course. As soon as there's an update, we'll keep you posted.
