WoW: Pre-patch for Shadowlands - release build is on the PTR

The developers at Blizzard have made the release version of Shadowlands patch 9.0.1 available for the public test server of World of Warcraft last night (see lead image, bottom left). This is already a sure sign that the release of the pre-patch for the upcoming expansion will not be too long in coming.

In

addition, however,

the

pre-download for the Shadowlands pre-patch

has

already been available for a week and there was the obligatory news for the upcoming end of the currently running WoW season

at the

beginning of the week

.

In the past, pre-patch phases usually lasted four weeks. Since Shadowlands is known to officially launch on October 27, the pre-patch should go live with the upcoming ID on September 30 - at least if Blizzard wants to keep the familiar rotation. On the other hand, in the past it was good manners to announce the end of a final addon season two weeks in advance. This in turn would mean that the pre-patch will not land on the live servers until October 7
