WoW: Rextroy provides another solo world-first in Ny'alotha (normal)

The Paladin player Rextroy is known for some solo actions in World of Warcraft - just about a month ago he attracted attention with a solo kill over Skitra from Ny'alotha.

Now he's back with another World First kill, single-handedly defeating the raid boss Il'gynoth on normal difficulty

.

How exactly did he manage to do that? The short answer: because of the Last Defender talent and, unsurprisingly, some clever tactics. (Source: Icy Veins)

Il'gynoth World First Solo Kill

According to Rextroy, he had been working on this boss for several weeks.

The

main task here, however, was the "gearing process", as very special items and corruption effects were necessary for the kill

.

The big goal was to get as much versatility as possible

.

Through a combination of the Last Defender and First Avenger talents, numerous pieces of equipment like Vector Analysis, and other effects, Rextroy achieved 100 percent versatility (with procs) and shields that absorbed around 100,000 damage. At the end of the day, this provided 122,000 HPS and, with some tactical finesse, a well-deserved world-first kill.

How was the equipment aligned?

A lot of little facets played a role in Rextroy's ability to take down Il'gynoth.

In

particular, the Last Defender talent, combined with numerous versatility boosts, was a huge part of the strategy.

Also contributing to this success were:

  • The two essences Conflict and Discord, as well as Aegis of the Deep.
  • The Disfigured Limb Corruption
  • The Vector Analysis from Mechagon
  • Versatility Azerite traits as well as Bollwark of Light

As a result, Rextry achieved the following equipment levels in total:

  • Item Level 470
  • Necklace level 92
  • 100 percent versatility from Corruption effects proccs:
    • 6 percent on hands
    • 9 percent on a ring
    • 12 percent on the belt

Thanks to vector analysis, Rextroy achieved around 30 percent dodge as well as 30 percent parry - this, combined with the First Avenger talent, ensured many Shield of the Avenger proccs and the aforementioned HPS value.

Tactics in Boss Battles

The main factor for a successful solo kill, according to Rextroy, is to get N'Zoth's eye out of range. For this, he equipped his character with an additional 10 percent more running speed , so that this would be more reliable. A big problem here was the first phase's Beserker timer, which also buffed the Living Chamber by 300 percent - and the Disfigured Limb Corruption was especially important for that.

That's why the main goal was to get to the second phase without a Berserker - because that's where he could pull all the Adds together

, which is when the

real fun begins. These adds increase versatility, allow the Avenger's shield to proc more often, and provide around 50 percent damage reduction thanks to Last Defenders.

Basically,

it's a survival fight, says Rextroy, where you have to play the numerous mechanics perfectly: "The best tactic is to be on the move all the time, otherwise his beam will hit you too."
