WoW Shadowlands: New options for spell density, ray tracing and more

If you have seen our image gallery or the videos of Bastion in WoW: Shadowlands , then you already know that the developers at Blizzard are tickling out even more visually from the MMORPG oldie with the upcoming expansion. In addition, they have also expanded the graphical settings with additional options

, such

as a selection menu for the spell density, with which you can determine the visibility of unimportant spells

:
  • Important: Displays only important spells. Your own spells are always displayed.
  • Some: Displays about 75 percent of unimportant spells.
  • Half: Displays about 50 percent of unimportant spells.
  • Majority: Displays about 25 percent of unimportant spells.
  • Dynamic: Decreases the display of unimportant spells based on the frame rate. When the desired frame rate is exceeded, all spells are displayed.
  • All: Always show all spells.

  • The desired frame rate: If the frame rate falls below this number, dynamic systems lower the graphics quality to reach this value.

Source: buffed Last but not least, according to Vanion, Shadowlands now also gets ray tracing support, which will provide more realistic lighting effects, as well as a function called "Variable Rate Shading", which is supposed to increase performance with barely visible image quality loss - namely by no longer calculating every pixel with the maximum possible level of detail of all shaders, but "VRS" partly combines the pixels into blocks and calculates them together.

  • RTTier - Maximum RT tier to use
  • RAIDshadowRt - Raid Raytraced shadows (0-2)
  • shadowRt - Raytraced shadows (0-2)
  • Ray Tracing Support - DXR 1.0 / DXR 1.1
  • vrsWorldGeo - Render scale like effect for terrain, buildings and liquids
  • vrsParticles - Render scale like effect for particles. Only used if lots of particles are on screen
  • Variable Rate Shading not supported on this hardware
