WoW TBC Classic: No nerf of the MQG Trinket, but arena ban

Update, January 19, 2022: The nerf to the popular Classic gem Gem of the Mind Leap for TBC Classic documented in the original post did not go over too well with many Mage players. Why should the Trinket be further toned down in PvE just because it's way too powerful in PvP?

And Blizzard has heard the feedback! In the official forum, Community Manager Kaivax announced that there will be no weakening of the gem. Instead, the Trinket will now be completely banned in PvP arenas. Under the post, many WoW fans thanked the developers for this decision.

The new PvP Season 3 is already scheduled to start next week. The raid instances Black Temple and Battle for Hyjal as well as most of the other new features are to follow on January 27, 2022.

Item Bans and Trinket Nerf in PvP Season 3

Last night, Community Manager Kaivax revealed in the official WoW forum that the developers have planned various adjustments for the third PvP season. In order to minimize waiting times for arena games, the matchmaking will be adjusted. Specifically, the developers are expanding the rating range for opponents that can be assigned to you. Teams with a comparably high rating will continue to meet each other with priority.

In addition, Blizzard is planning an arena ban for the following items:

  • Belt of near-perfect invulnerability
  • Gnome Net-o-Matik Projector
  • Sparkling longsword
  • Silent Fang
  • Skull of impending doom

Last but not least, the popular Classic Mage gem, the Mind Skip gem

, is to be noticeably weakened and will only offer 100 spell power rating instead of 330.Support buffed - it will only take a minute. Thanks!
