WoW: U-turn for the story? Lore author Robert Brooks leaves Blizzard

There's no end to it! The next high-ranking employee is leaving Blizzard. This time it's Robert Brooks, a talented writer who has been instrumental in shaping and reshaping the backstory of World of Warcraft in recent years. Brooks worked closely with Steve Danuser, WoW's Narrative Lead, in recent years and was the creator of the Warcraft Chronicles (available for purchase on Amazon and Panini) and several short stories that Blizzard set to audio during WoW: Legion. His most popular works included The Tomb of Sargeras and A Thousand Years of War, for example. He also wrote the lyrics for Jaina's eerily beautiful song from the Warbringer short in Battle for Azeroth.

On Twitter, Brooks said goodbye to his colleagues and thanked Blizzard for the great time. He also posted some nice photos from BlizzCon, where he was present for the last time:

Sexism complaint and hatred in the WoW community

This news naturally raised questions in the WoW community about the reason for Brook's decision to leave Blizzard. A short time later, Robert added to his tweet, explaining that the last few months have been very hard for him. Here, the sexism lawsuit against Activision Blizzard certainly plays an important role. The second decisive point could have been the hatred of WoW fans

, which has been raining down on WoW authors in recent years.

In his subsequent messages, Robert Brooks also asks for more understanding for the victims of the scandal and he is confident that the new team will be able to cope with the numerous challenges that Blizzard will face in the coming years and that they will be able to bring the game studio back to the top.

We can not estimate at the moment what the decision Robert Brooks means for the lore of World of Warcraft (buy now 14,99 € )

. There had probably been several books and short stories planned with him as the author. Who will take over Robert's job in the future is not yet known. Maybe we're in for a turnaround in WoW storytelling!Support buffed - it only takes a minute. Thank you!
